1.     A  55 year-old gentleman presents with epigastric pain that feels worse at night. He also complains of suffering from heartburn. Antacids help pain-relief and heartburn. He has lost 2kg over the past month.


2.     A  50 year old gentleman presents with anorexia and weight loss of 10kg over the past 2 months. He complains of nausea and has been vomiting several times a week. A palpable lump was felt in the supraclavicular fossa .


3.     A 20 year old student presents to A&E after vomiting bright red blood. He had just gone out to celebrate his birthday and his breath smelled of alcohol. It was the first time every vomiting blood. He denies any weight loss or anorexia.


4.     A 40 year old woman complains of a year-long history of problems with swallowing food. The dysphagia seems to occur more during her evening meals. At times, she feels as though the food is stuck in her throat, but drinking large amounts of water Òpushes the food downÓ. She denies any weight loss.


5.     A 70 year old man complains of increasing difficulty in swallowing his food.  He has lost 8kg in the past 2 months. On examination, lymphadenopathy is observed.
